Teacher Conversation

  1. On the eval/reflection, someone expressed an interest in videos of students competing to show their classes. If you go to the CCE We the People page (http://www.civiced.org/programs/wtp) and click on Hearings, a number of the pages under Hearings include videos. Check out the Upper Elementary, Middle School, High School, and National Competition (>2010 National Finals) for videos. You can also find videos from Grandview at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7OxTxT8dc_dLli6EPECLOw. Searching You Tube using “We the People congressional hearing” will turn up additional videos.

  2. Friday's Colorado Council for the Social Studies conference will feature several sessions of interest to JMLP teachers. Two sessions are being sponsored by the Civic Canopy. One will feature teacher and attorney Sarah Edson presenting a 2016 Supreme Court preview. The other will be me (Laurel) presenting on the free documentary film and curriculum guide, Electoral Dysfunction. In addition, two members of the cohort are also presenting. Kelly is doing two sessions, one on social media in social studies and the other on using Google to simplify student feedback. Lenore will be presenting small group debates. Hope to see some of you there!
